Woman charged in brutal murder
LA PORTE, Ind.--Last week on July 29, a horrifying phone call was made to 911 by a man, that his ex-girlfriend, 34-year-old Thessalonica Allen brutally murdered her husband, Randy Allen inside of a La Porte apartment.
“It’s hard. It’s hard to imagine anybody who would do something like that to him. hes just so sweet," Randy's Aunt Patricia Blanton said.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Thessalonica called her ex, Rory Walker, telling him Randy was abusing one of her children. When Rory arrived to their home at Maple Tree Apartments on West 18th Street, she showed him Randy's body inside of the closet, claiming she shot him because he was beating on her and the kids. Thessalonica confessed this to detectives, saying she panicked after she shot him and cut off both his legs with an axe.
The whole ordeal, more than heartbreaking for Randy’s family.
“I said I’m not ever going to see my son no more? I kept saying that and I’m not going to ever see his face anymore. And all I can see is his smiling face. I’m not gonna see that beautiful smile anymore," Randy's Mother Theresa Tyler said. "And that funny laugh, the noise he used to make. We not gonna hear that or see that anymore.”
Court documents show her kids were present during the altercation and after the murder. In an interview with detectives, they say they were woken up by Thessalonica to help her drag Randy’s body out of the room and into a vehicle, but he was too heavy. Detectives performed a search warrant in the apartment, where they found Randy's body in a tote bag in her daughters room. Detectives also found several hand written notes which appear to be a checklist, including specific instructions on what to do with Randy, and what to do afterwards.
“No body can understand the pain and the trauma that our family is going through right now knowing that the person that you loved was taken away from you in such an awful, awful manner. He didn’t deserve that.” Randy’s Sister Sharon Allen said.
Randy's family members are now left in complete shock after hearing about their loved one 5 days after he took his last breath.
“I knew something was wrong because we always talk and I kept calling him and calling him and no answer I said 'what’s going on?' I text him. And when that police came in that door and my landlord came in that house yesterday I knew something was wrong with my son. And I lost it,” Tyler said.
“My brother laid dead for 5 days before we even knew where he was," Sharon Allen said.
Their only hope now is to spread happy memories about Randy, and bring him the justice he deserves.
“He was more than just a nephew. He was like my own son. Because we wherever we moved to he was always there," Blanton said.
“It kills me to hear him say that he was abusive to her. Which she made that statement. And it’s making a mockery of women who have Ben abused, actually have been abused. She never was. He would never hurt her," Tyler said.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Thessalonica was charged on 8 different counts on Tuesday.
The first count being the murder of her husband Randy. The second and third, being level 5 felonies, contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The fourth, a level 6 felony, abuse of a corpse. The fifth count, also a level 6 felony, alteration of the death scene. The sixth, a class A misdemeanor, interfering with the reporting of a crime. The seventh and final counts, both level 6 felonies, neglect of a dependent.
